Tabab Town
Tabab is a UN Tourism-recognized Best Tourism Village near Abha, home to the restored Abu Nuqta Castles complex and the historic Tabab Mosque dating to 1221 AH.
Historically the political and economic capital of Asir during the First Saudi State under the Al Abu Nuqta Al-Mutahami emirate, Tabab features a prominent complex of six restored defensive stone castles and palaces, the historic Tabab Mosque (founded in 1221 AH / 1806 CE under Imam Saud bin Abdulaziz), traditional homes, cultural exhibition spaces, and heritage cafes. Tabab was recognized internationally by UN Tourism (UNWTO) as one of the Best Tourism Villages for 2024, reflecting its exceptional preservation of Asiri heritage architecture.
